Gapoxio™
Epoxy Putty -- Mixes and Models like clay. |
Mini
World are the manufacturers of Gapoxio ™ Epoxy Putty. In April
2004 they purchased Gapoxio manufacturing from Martin R. Carbone,
Inc. |
| • |
Hardens
(cures) in one hour to a rigid solid
- even under water |
 |
| • |
Good
"feel" - easily mixed |
| • |
No shrinkage ~ No odor |
| • |
Cleans
up with water before hardening |
| • |
Stays
where it's put - doesn't slump or run |
| • |
Smoothes
to a feather edge with wet fingertips |
| • |
Can
be drilled and sanded with hand or motorized tools |
Adheres
to all materials -- wood, all metals, most plastics, vinyl, stone,
cement, polymer and air-dry clays, ceramics, porcelain, brick, fiberglass,
- anything you can think of... |
| • |
Sand
it to a smooth finish with wet & dry sandpaper and water. |
| • |
Roll
it into sheets like pizza dough -- even use it in a pasta machine |
| • |
Accepts
virtually all finishes and paints |
| • |
When
cured is not affected by most solvents and caustic agents: |

Unmixed shelf life is well
into years. Already mixed Gapoxio™ |

Mix
EQUAL parts of Part A and Part B, mixing completely. Use a knife to
simply cut two equal parts. Mix smallish amounts at a time. |
 |
Mixing unequal
parts, can result in improper curing and hardening. |
| FYI |
Make
sure you use rubber gloves when using Gapoxio™ or any epoxy
resin. If used barehanded over time, almost everyone will develop a
sensitivity -- a rash and itching. Use rubber or vinyl gloves every
time you work with any epoxy resin. Latex gloves are not recommended.
|
Ventilation
is also important. Use local ventiation and a dust mask when sanding
or drilling Gapoxio™ - as you would any polymer compound. |
|
| Anything
you can do with polymer or any air-dry clay you can do with Gapoxio™. |
 |
Artists, theatre set
designers, minaturists, costumers and hobbyists use it purely as a modeling
compound - in the same way that polymer clay is used - to create original
sculpted dolls and figurines, theatere props and sets, costume pieces,
jewelry, and miniatures. |
Gapoxio's
adhesive properties come in handy when pieces and parts want to be added.
Gapoxio™ can be added to cured or wet parts. |
 |
Many artists
prefer it to other modeling compounds because it is so lightweight,
yet extremely strong and durable once hardened. No heat is required
to set the item, so it saves time. Hardens (cures) in an hour |
| |
Sculpts and
replicates the finest details |
Tip |

|
Gapoxio™ can be rolled
into a sheet like cookie dough & drape-formed over objects or
pressed into molds. |
Cure
time can be shortened by applying heat . . . Cures in a microwave oven
in minutes |
| You can even use it
on a potter's wheel to make cups and bowls, just as you would any waterbase
clay. |
Gapoxio
can be molded into any shape or around and into any object. |
One
of the great things about working with Gapoxio™ is the fact that
you can bend and form the material as it is hardening. In these cases,
the shapes were formed when the Gapoxio™ was about 90% cured hard. |
 |
 |
Extremely hard to make
with any other material, this 'magic wand' (tree-shape) was made with
the mixed Gapoxio™Êextruded with the help of a hand held clay extruder.
|
| Gapoxio stays where you put it -
without slumping or running. Mold it into and around any shape of any
material. |
 |
| |
You can even
make a thin coil 'snake' and wrap it around a cup while hardening to
make a looped, spring-like coil. |
| |
|
|
| Most
colorants, which will mix with lacquer, may be safely mixed with epoxy.
This includes touch up powders, Huls 844, Universal Colors, base concentrate. |
Coloring
Gapoxio
|
| Adding
too much color into mixed, uncured Gapoxio can affect the cure and ultimate
hardening and strength properties of the epoxy putty. |
Once
cured (hardened) you can paint or stain Gapoxio
with any paint medium - water or oil based. |
|
|
|
Clean
Up |
Use
soap and water only on your skin. |
|
While isopropyl
alcohol and lacquer thinner can be used to clean up uncured epoxy around
your work area, these solvents should not be used to clean epoxy from
your skin. The solvents can carry elements of the epoxy curing agents
through the skin and cause allergic reactions.
|
 |
You
can shape uncured Gapoxio™ easily with a heated knife. The hot knife
acts as though it had a lubricant on it, smoothing the epoxy, and the
heat of the knife makes the epoxy putty more pliable as well as accelerating
the cure. |
Tips
|
| You
can wet fingers or tools with water to shape and mold the mixed epoxy
as you would clay. The epoxy will cure underwater. |
| |
Larger
masses of epoxy will cure faster than smaller masses. |
| Building
up layers of no more than 1/4" thick on your sculpted piece will
make for a stronger piece, than sculpting in a large mass at once. |
| |
Heat
will speed up the cure. Cold will retard it. |

Testimonial |
Dear Sirs,
I was recently honored to be selected by the New Jersey State Botanical
Garden to create a sculpture for their prestigious Skylands Manor. To
sculpt a piece worthy of this honor I chose to use Gapoxio because of
its excellent modeling qualities. As you can see using your superior product
has helped me to achieve superior results. This is a photo of the statue
titled "Adam" made of 36 pounds of Gapoxio! -- Kathy J.
