| Everyone
has received e-mail messages from friends who wanted to share some
information with them. Unfortunately, sometimes the good people who
want to share this information didn't realize that the message they
pass along is an E-mail Hoax. |
| Here
are a few sites to look at first before you send along that message:

Here's one
of the latest Hoaxes to beware of: |
Virus
Rx - Preventive Medicine |
| They are
out there on the internet and they can be nasty. The most important thing
you can do is get a good anti-virus software and KEEP IT UP TO DATE with
all the updates. |
| The next important thing,
especially if you have any version of Windows running your computer, is
to visit the Microsoft website often and update your system with any security
patches necessary. Don't wait to be reminded automatically. |

on the latest viruses and worms to be aware of, please visit the TREND

| Our secure
shopping feature takes a little while to connect at times. This is because
it IS secure. |
| Our on-line
catalog pictures all of the items we carry. When you visit each page of
our catalog for the first time, the page may take a while to load. We
designed each page to preview just a few items at a time, so no page will
take longer than 18 to 29 seconds to completely load. Once you've visited
a page it's stored in your computer's Temporary Internet Directory, and
the next time you visit us (or even go back to that page during your current
visit) the page will "come up" on your screen right away. This is how
your Internet browser works, and every website you visit on the Internet
does the same thing. |
|
It's a great time-saver because you don't have to wait for a website page
to load each time you visit. But it also means having your computer's
disk space cluttered up with files that you may not need anymore. It's
a good habit to "clean out" the old files stored in your Temporary Internet
Files Directory every week or two to free up computer space and to make
sure you see everything that may have been added to a website. |
| What
are Cookies? |
| Cookies are small
text files Mini World uses (thousands of sites are currently using
them) to recognize a repeat visitor to its site. Cookies are not programs
that come onto a user's system and damage files. For more information
about Cookies, please visit the
Electronic Frontier Foundation. |
Mini World utilises
cookies that contain no information about you. Cookies enable sites to
store information on the user's computer so that the information can be
referenced later. Don't be alarmed, the cookies' file stored on your computer
is just a harmless text file. At Mini World we make use of cookies to
make sure that whomever enters the store is who they say they are. Some
people have heard bad things about cookies, such as them being able to
track where you have been etc. As just mentioned, the use of cookies here
is purely for identification purposes. If you get sick of your browser
constantly asking you about accepting a cookie, consult your browsers
documentation on how to disable that feature that asks you if you want
to accept a cookie. BUT remember that you
must have cookies ENABLED to shop online since cookies are necessary
to utilize our shopping cart. When you add a product to your shopping
cart or log in to Mini World, your browser is sent a cookie containing
a unique number.

| Problems...... |
| Sometimes
people email us saying they have experienced problems with pictures
not showing up or type running together. Unfortunately different web
browsers understand what webpages do in different ways, and what some
browsers see aren't what other browsers see. And older versions of
the same browsers have difficulty seeing anything. |
|
Here's
a few things that may help you in when you're "surfing the net".
|
| If
you're having problems with the type scrambling or running together,
try reloading or refreshing your screen. Generally you can right-click
your mouse button (or choose from the top menu display) and choose
the Refresh or Reload option on the menu. |
| The
biggest culprit in not properly seeing a website may be the age
of your web browser. Older
browsers just don't want to do what a website is asking them to do.
|
| You
must have Cookies Enabled in order to shop online at Mini World. |
Check your
browser defaults and make sure you have cookies turned on. You need to
have a medium Security setting |
